Liverpool - Anzhi Betting Preview: Eto'o-inspired Russian side capable of Anfield win

After defeat to Udinese in their previous Europa League tie, Liverpool could do with a win to get back on track.

But that is unlikely to be straightforward for the Reds when Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala visit Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers men will need to be at their best and repeat the solid form that has seen them keep consecutive Premier League clean sheets in their last two matches.

Liverpool are 5/4 (2.25) with William Hill to get the win that would move them into the qualification spots in Group A.

But one issue for Rodgers will be the fact that the Merseyside derby with Everton is looming on Sunday.

In the goalscorer markets, Luis Suarez is 9/2 (5.50) favourite with William Hill to open the scoring but his opposite number is one of the greats of the modern game Samuel Etoo.

The Cameroon international has eight goals in his last nine games, including two last time out in the Europa League against Young Boys.

While Anzhi are 3/1 (4.00) to lead at half-time, they have not scored before the break in any of their last three games but gone on to win them all.

As a result, backing Etoo to be the last scorer rather than first is the value bet here its paid out in four of their last nine games and is available at 5/1 (6.00) w ith William Hill.

Thats because the visitors look a little over-priced all round in this one. Prior to the two recent clean sheets, Liverpool went nine games without a shut out and have conceded six in two in Europe.

The Anzhi players are all used to significant travel and are in fine form having won 10 of their last 11 games the other was a draw at Udinese, winners at Anfield in the previous round of group games.
